Advertising On The Internet

Advertising on the internet can be as effective as any other kind of advertising, with many times less cost. The easiest way for you to advertise your company on the internet is to use either a pay per click, cost per acquisition or banner ad method. Each one of these has pros and cons like anything else in business, therefore you may have to try each method yourself to see what makes the most sense for your business.

Using a pay per click method you can easily pay your way to the top of search engines and get a lot of traffic. If you choose this method you will want to set a daily limit on dollar amount to protect yourself from going broke. If you are paying only $1 per click and have no daily limit it is possible to spend $1000 very fast, only to find out that most people who clicked on your ad do not live close enough to benefit your business, or you are not getting a good enough conversion rate on your sales piece to justify the heavy costs. Start with small daily limits, test, tweak, test, tweak, test and increase, until you get to where your business is making sense if you get there at all. Not to sound negative, but not every method works for every company.

Cost per acquisition

This is a good way to get leads fast. There are companies out there that use an affiliate system to advertise your company and get you leads, not just clicks, but forms filled out for more information. These cost a lot more than pay per click, but there is a lot more interest as well.

Banner ads

Here you can place a banner on someone else's website that would have similar clients or readers that would benefit from your services. Again start small then grow from there.

Other methods of advertising on the internet are the online classifieds. Some of these are free and others cost a little bit of money, but most get pretty good traffic and can be worthwhile. Careful if you are selling a large ticket item though, like a car, boat, or house, you do not want to spend $100's of dollars on something to find out that site gets no traffic at all.
