Internet Marketing and Advertising

What is the difference between internet marketing and advertising? In most cases both can be the same. For instance if you write an advertisement that sells a product and you make that sale then you have used both together. If however, you use an ad to draw traffic to your site, then you use other methods to sell your products over and above the original ad then you are marketing. Often when you make a marketing plan you will use marketing methods along with advertising.

The nice thing about the internet is you can buy advertising that gets traffic to your website that you can convert to buyers, or to leads. If you convert to leads then you will have many chances in the future to turn those leads to buyers. Most sales courses will teach the salespeople how to get their clients, but not really how to advertise to get clients. An insurance agent for example can get traffic to their site, whether this was free methods or paid for methods does not matter. Then if that traffic is close enough to the area the agent is allowed to work in he or she can use other marketing methods to build trust and start building a relationship. They could send that person out a some information on how to save for their retirement or for a vacation. Whatever the agent wants to send is okay as long as there is tons of value for the future client. At some point there will be enough trust built that the agent will not just get a sales meeting, but also a sale. In this case internet advertising and marketing were used together. If you open your mind you will discover ways to do this for yourself as well.

Another benefit of internet marketing advertising, is that the costs to get future clients can be far cheaper than traditional methods of advertising or marketing. There are no stamps in the internet world, and the cost of getting one person to fill out a form for more information can be as low as $1. If you spent $100 and had 100 forms to follow up on how many sales would you make? Then how much money would that bring in? Most of us sell somewhere between 1% and 15% or even higher, but with these conversions you would only have to make between $7 and $100 profit per sale to break even.
